CANONICAL URL FOR MAGENTO

This extension adds the new canonical links to the head of your Magento pages. Basically Canonical URL is a search engine friendly URL that you want the search engines to treat as authoritative.  In other words, a canonical URL is the URL that you want visitors to see.
Quite often canonical URLs were used to describe the homepage.  The typical example used is that most people treat the following URLs as the same:
www.example.com
example.com
www.example.com/index.html
example.com/home.asp



COMPATIBILITY:
The latest version of this module is only compatible with Magento 1.4. For Magento 1.3 and below you have to download the 1.3 release, magento-community/canonical_url-1.3

Magento 1.4 supports the canonical tag by core. To enable the tag for the category and product page go to: System=>Configuration=>Catalog=>Search Engine Optimization and enable: Use Canonical Link Meta Tag For Categories and Use Canonical Link Meta Tag For Products.
